You may remember the early compact digital cameras that offered 1 megapixel resolution, how things have improved! The Canon EOS 500D digital SLR offers an amazing 15.1 megapixel resolution. Couple this with the excellent Canon lenses and 9 point auto-focus system and you have a photographer's dream camera.

Movie making in Full HD
As well as offering all the normal digital SLR still camera facilities the Canon EOS 500D adds the capability to shoot Full HD (1080p) video. If you need to record a particularly long video sequence you can shoot at 720p or even VGA resolution. Playing your video back is a breeze with an HDMI connection allowing High Definition playback of videos and images on any High Definition Television (HDTV).



Shooting in low light
For when light levels are low, the Canon EOS 500D provides a normal ISO range of up to 3200 - this is expandable to 12800 for those occasions when using flash is prohibited or undesirable.

DIGIC 4 Canon's revolutionary DIGIC 4 processor works in conjunction with the CMOS sensor to provide full 14-bit image processing, this produces extremely natural looking colours and also incredibly smooth gradations. The DIGIC 4 system is also the brain behind the Canon EOS 500D's advanced Noise Reduction when taking photographs at the high end of the ISO scale, also providing super-fast start-up times and close to instant image review after shooting.

Rapid fire shooting
The Canon EOS 500D offers continuous shooting modes up to a rate of 3.4fps (frames per second), this can operate continuously for as many as 170 large JPG images or 9 RAW images, never miss the action!


Large clear 3" LCD featuring 'Live View' mode
Verify the images and video you have just shot using the 3.0" ClearView LCD screen, having an amazing 920,000 dots for ultra-high clarity. Or you can use the screen in Live View mode and see a real-time visual feed to assist when you need to shoot from difficult angles.

Superb Auto-Focus (AF) system
The Canon EOS 500D incorporates a very high-precision auto-focus system which uses 9 distinct auto-focus points, These points are situated throughout the frame to vastly improve focus of subjects that are off-centre.

Dealing with dust on the sensor
The Canon EOS 500D includes canons revolutionary EOS Integrated Cleaning System. This is an in-built dust prevention system that provides three ways of protecting images against the photographers' enemy, dust!

• Reduction of internal dust generation
• In-camera sensor cleaning mechanism which literally vibrates the dust off of the sensor
• You can even identify and mark stubborn dust spots for later removal with the provided Digital Photo Professional software.

Night time and studio shooting
The Canon EOS 500D is fully compatible with Canon's range of EF and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites (Flashes). This provides a full photographic system that allows the photographers creativity to come to the fore.
